Coverage: PPMS software for schools

Lockdown, intrusion or major incident: display an alert on every workstation, even without email or internet access.

The audible alarm triggers vigilance, but it does not carry any specific instructions.
In PPMS situations, it is the written instructions that tell each staff what to do, in which area, and immediately.
dMessage displays this message in the foreground on the stations concerned, via the internal network, in a single trigger.
How can we ensure that the correct deposit reaches the right people at the right time, without relying on messaging?

The PPMS, a regulatory framework whose value is measured by the year

The Personal Safety Plan is mandatory in all schools: schools, colleges, high schools. It covers two families of distinct situations: on the one hand, major risks (industrial accident, toxic cloud, natural or climatic risk), and on the other hand, the risk of attack-intruder. Depending on the nature of the event, the conduct to be held differs: containment, evacuation, shelter. These answers have little in common, except for a shared requirement: the directive must reach all without delay.

The quality of a PPMS is not in the thickness of the binder. It is measured on the day of exercise, the speed and clarity with which the alert reaches the personnel. A well-written but slow-to-distributed device leaves room for interpretation, word-of-mouth, disorganization. It is the speed of transmission of the written instructions that determines whether the plan holds or collapses at the moment it counts.

The audible alarm is not enough to transmit a statement

In PPMS situations, the sound signal fulfils its role: it triggers vigilance. It does not transmit the instructions, does not specify the area concerned or the nature of the event.

  • A sound without content. The alarm indicates something's going on. She doesn't say whether to confide, evacuate or shelter, or in what building.
  • The word of mouth is deformed. When the locker moves from room to room, it reformulates, truncates, arrives late. Two staff members in the same corridor can receive two different versions of the same message.
  • Improvisation under pressure causes errors. In a tense situation, write a hot message, choose the recipients and find the available channel consumes a time that the situation does not leave.
  • Email is not an alert channel. An email assumes that the recipient is in front of the box, that he consults it, and that the courier remains available: three conditions rarely met at the time the alert leaves.

A written statement, in the foreground, without detour

In PPMS situations, the order must reach the personnel without delay and unambiguously. dMessage displays a message prepared in advance on the workstations, over all open applications, on the institution's internal network.

  • Readable immediately, the window indicates the nature of the alert, the area concerned and the course to be taken without the recipient having to open an email box or perform any manipulation.
  • Cold prepared, triggered in one gesture: Containment, evacuation or intrusion risk messages are drafted and validated in advance. When the time comes, a single action launches the right scenario to the right workstations.
  • Independent of messaging and internet, dMessage transited exclusively through the establishment's internal network. A saturation of the messaging or an external cut does not compromise the broadcast.
  • The same wording for all: Each staff member concerned shall receive the same text at the same time without interpretation or oral transmission which could distort the instructions.

Four key capabilities for your PPMS device

Triggering in a single move

Containment, evacuation, or intrusion hazard instructions are written and validated cold. In real life, a single action sends the right message to the right recipients, without improvisation.

Targeting by building, floor or area

Targeting is based on the Active Directory already in place. It is possible to confine a building while sending a different order to another area, without directory to recreate.

Foreground display, internal network only

The message appears over open applications, without the need to open an email box. The broadcast passes through the internal network: an internet break or the unavailability of the messaging does not interrupt the channel.

Reading Accused to Document Exercises

Each message goes back to an accused of reading nominative and time-honoured. These traces are usable during the debriefing of a PPMS exercise to objectivee what worked and what deserves to be reviewed.

The conduct of a PPMS alert with dMessage

An effective PPMS alert is not improvised: it prepares cold, and then triggers in a gesture when the time comes.

1

Write and validate instructions before any incident

Each scenario: containment, evacuation, risk of intrusion is the subject of a message written, read and validated outside of any crisis situation. The formulation is stopped once and for all, calm and unambiguous.

2

Trigger the right message in one action

When the event occurs, the operator selects the corresponding scenario and launches the broadcast. No writing on the fly, no improvisation: the message immediately departs to the targeted recipients.

3

The window appears in the foreground on all the workstations concerned

without any manipulation by them. Targeting can be on a building, floor or area, from the existing Active Directory.

4

Readback accused go back to debriefing

Each reception generates a nominative and time stamping acknowledgement. These data are usable during the debriefing of the exercise to objectiveize what worked and identify what deserves adjustment.

dMessage, a written alert channel edited by MGI Consultants

dMessage is the pop-up message software published by MGI Consultants, a French ESN of more than 400 employees, which has been present on the market since 1991. Today, the product has more than 350,000 users worldwide. Its operation is 100% on-premise: messages transit over the internal network, without the internet or third-party cloud, making it independent of the availability of messaging. It is compatible with Windows, Active Directory and SCCM environments, without infrastructure redesign.

dMessage does not replace the facility's audible alarm. It complements it by carrying the written, precise and immediate instructions to the workstations of the personnel concerned: where the sound signal alone is not sufficient to distinguish between the nature of the alert and the conduct to be held.

To view the channel on a concrete PPMS scenario, a 20 minute demonstration is available upon request. A 30-day trial can also be downloaded to dmessage.com.

Adopted by the most demanding structures

Where unread information is not an option, dMessage broadcasts vital alerts throughout the network in seconds.

Health

Several CHUs trigger their White Plans and Orsan Plans on all services in seconds, without depending on the messaging.

Industry

A French industrialist +18 000 workstationsdeployed via SCCM, manages its industrial emergencies and cyber incidents on a sovereign channel.

Public sector & finance

National public institutions and asset management actors rely on dMessage for their internal critical communications.

A question?

Frequently asked questions

No. dMessage operates exclusively on the institution's internal network, without going through the Internet or a third-party cloud. An external connectivity cut-off does not interfere with the delivery of messages.
Everything remains on the institution's infrastructure: dMessage is 100% on-premise, without remote server or processing outside the local network.
No. dMessage relies on the environment already in place: Windows, Active Directory and SCCM without rebuilding a directory or modifying the network architecture.
Yes. The pop-up window appears in the foreground over all open applications, without any manipulation of the recipient being necessary.
Yes. Each message generates a nominal and time-bound read-in charge, which can be used during debriefing to identify the workstations reached and those that were not.
